Your Plan B / Countries / Europe

Cyprus: prepare a second base or a new family home

Plan a Cyprus home from the UK or UAE: residence routes, Larnaca and Nicosia, schools, healthcare, property and money access. EXOBASIS prepares the practical steps. EXOBASIS organises the agreed work, from documents and housing search to a prepared arrival.

Your starting point

Moving to Cyprus is not the same decision as buying property there. A family home needs to support school, work and healthcare throughout the year. A second base needs lawful access and someone to keep it ready while you live elsewhere. A business location can be useful without being the place where your family should live.

  • A second baseA home for regular stays, with suitable rights, reliable access and care while you are away.
  • A new place to liveBring housing, school, healthcare and income together into a workable family routine.
  • A prepared alternativeArrange travel, accommodation and the necessary steps early enough to turn an idea into a usable plan.
What matters for your decision

For a UK- or UAE-based household, start with each person's nationality and existing status. One partner may hold an Irish or another EU passport; another may be British with no protected Cypriot residence. A UAE residence card describes a present immigration arrangement, not a nationality or permission to settle in Cyprus.

This profile concerns the Republic of Cyprus and the areas it controls. It does not treat Northern Cyprus as the same property, residence or entry jurisdiction. Cyprus is in the eastern Mediterranean, so choosing it as a European family base and choosing it as an answer to a particular war scenario need separate reasoning.

You want somewhere your family can go and build a life beyond the arrangements you depend on today. Perhaps fear of war is making a second base urgent. Perhaps you are ready to leave Britain, or want a European home that does not depend on your current UAE job and residence permission.

Cyprus becomes a useful option when your family can enter, stay, pay for daily life and move into a home with the right school and care arrangements. EXOBASIS organises that preparation, from residence documents and a housing search to arrival and the agreed continuing care of your base.

Contingency base and return

If war or fear of war is driving your decision, define what you need the alternative to do. Is it somewhere to stay while retaining your current home, somewhere to establish the children permanently, or a location available if your existing residence arrangement ends? That answer changes what must remain in place in Britain or the UAE.

Travel and local preparedness in detail

For a normal arrival, connect a flight to Larnaca or Paphos with the actual onward journey and handover. Kapnos publishes airport shuttle connections including Larnaca and Nicosia. A family with a dependent parent, young children or substantial luggage may need an individually arranged transfer. The important endpoint is the usable home: keys, essential supplies, electricity, water, payment access and any care needed on arrival.

Published transport routes do not establish availability during war, airspace closure or regional escalation. Decide in advance what would prompt an earlier departure and what other reachable option you would assess if the planned connection failed. A residence permit cannot make a cancelled flight operate.

Preserve the return you actually intend. A UK immigration permission is not interchangeable with British citizenship. For a UAE-based family, cancellation, absence conditions and the underlying residence category can change the ability to return. Leaving the UK with a prepared alternative and Leaving the UAE or preparing a second option explain those distinct departure tasks. Resolve any individual exit, court or service obligation through the relevant jurisdiction before relying on travel.

A lasting future for your family

A lasting move needs a school and care plan before a property commitment. Decide which curriculum the children need, what language they can learn in, and which treatment or daily support cannot be interrupted. Those requirements give the housing search a useful boundary. If an onward or return journey is delayed, the home, daily support, medicines and essential treatment must remain usable on the island. Agree who will coordinate the local arrangements with EXOBASIS and when a gap in that support would require a different, reachable option.

Residence and family life in detail

Larnaca can connect an English-language school option with district hospital services and an airport arrival. Nicosia deserves a separate assessment where specialist hospital access leads the decision. Visit the actual school, relevant neighbourhoods and receiving medical service. Test the ordinary journeys rather than choosing from a holiday impression of the island.

For a family leaving the UK or UAE, identify EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship, qualifying family rights and any retained British residence rights under the Withdrawal Agreement first. An eligible EU/EEA/Swiss family can build on employment, self-employment or sufficient resources with health cover, without an investor purchase. A new British or other third-country arrival without those entitlements needs a suitable permit, with its own dependant and work conditions; an investor route is one separate option, not a requirement for an already entitled family. If one parent arrives first, arrange both the children's lawful relocation and the support for whoever remains behind. Cyprus residence documents do not settle a UK or UAE dispute over parental responsibility. A child with a different passport may also need a different application. Prepare to move abroad with children and family connects those rights with permission, education and the practical family transition.

English-language education can support the first stage, while life in a Greek-speaking environment remains part of settling in. Confirm the language used by the school, clinicians and people helping the household. Budget time for the children's adjustment and for adults to establish their own local relationships.

For a longer horizon, ordinary naturalisation is a separate route. It requires twelve immediately preceding months of lawful residence, with up to 90 days of absence permitted, and at least seven years of lawful residence within the preceding ten-year period. Conditions also include Greek at B1, knowledge of the country's political and social life, good character, suitable housing, stable resources and an intention to remain. Purchasing a home does not purchase citizenship.

Mobile living

For a home used between other countries, put the actual calendar on paper: days in Cyprus, work carried out there, school terms, treatment, travel and long absences. Match that pattern to residence permission before assuming that an overseas employer or company makes the arrangement lawful.

Eligible EU, EEA and Swiss citizens start with their existing rights and the basis for longer residence. For a qualifying third-country remote worker serving an overseas employer or clients, Digital Nomad residence is a distinct route. A Visitor permit is not a general remote-work permission. An accompanying Nomad partner does not receive a right to work in Cyprus through that status.

The property-investor route has its own limits on mobile use. Residence must be taken up within a year of approval when the applicant is abroad. Acquiring permanent residence abroad or being absent from Cyprus for two years can end the immigration permit. Plan those conditions against the life you intend to keep, not just the dates on a card.

A partly empty home also needs a practical agreement: inspections, a keyholder, payment of bills, maintenance authority and preparation before your return. We can organise that continuing work so the next stay starts with a ready household rather than a list of repairs and access problems.

Existing rights and suitable routes

British residents: protected rights or a new move?

British nationals who exercised residence rights in Cyprus before the end of the Brexit transition period and retain them may fall under the Withdrawal Agreement, together with qualifying family members. The UKW documents concern those protected cases. A new British arrival without that entitlement normally needs a suitable third-country route. A second EU passport or a qualifying EU family relationship should be identified first.

EU, EEA and Swiss rights, including mixed-nationality families

Eligible citizens can stay for up to three months with a valid passport or identity card. A longer stay can be based on employment, self-employment, or sufficient resources with comprehensive health insurance. MEU1 registration is required within four months of entry and costs EUR 20; the certificate does not expire. Employment and self-employment are accessible under those rights.

MEU2 covers qualifying third-country family members of an eligible EU, EEA or Swiss citizen: a spouse or civil-union partner, direct descendants under 21 or dependent, and dependent direct ancestors. Apply within four months with the family and supporting evidence and biometrics; the sponsor must attend submission. The card costs EUR 20 and is normally valid for five years or the sponsor's shorter planned residence. It allows labour-market access. Other relatives cannot simply be added under the same assumption.

Visitor residence: living from resources without working locally

The non-investment Visitor route can suit a longer stay funded from established resources. It prohibits economic activity in the Republic. Submit MVIS8 after lawful entry and before the visa expires, with officially translated and certified records. The first permit is normally for one year and can be renewed if the criteria remain met. Issuing the permit costs EUR 70, with a further EUR 70 for first registration.

Requirements and procedures in detail

The official checklist calls for stable resources generally from abroad and evidence of receipts at a financial institution in Cyprus of at least EUR 2,000 a month or EUR 24,000 a year for one person. Add 20% for a spouse and 15% for each child. For a first application, a transfer or cash deposit of at least EUR 10,000 is also accepted, with a customs declaration where cash is used; it does not replace the other stable-resource conditions. Renewal requires a balance of at least EUR 6,000, irrespective of family size.

The initial file also includes criminal-record and medical evidence, housing, a ten-year repatriation bank guarantee with an amount dependent on origin, and the specified Plan A insurance covering inpatient and outpatient care and repatriation. Dependent spouses and minor children have their own supporting files. For a child, these can include custody or the other parent's consent and school evidence. Do not use this route on the assumption that overseas remote work is automatically permitted.

Digital Nomad residence for overseas remote work

This route is designed for non-EU and non-EEA nationals working remotely through telecommunications for an employer registered abroad or clients abroad. The published minimum is stable net income of EUR 3,500 a month after tax and contributions. The initial permit lasts one year, with renewal for up to two further years. A spouse or civil-union partner and minor children can obtain accompanying residence for the same period, without permission to work or carry out economic activity in Cyprus.

Apply in Nicosia within three months of arrival and arrange biometrics. Renewals are submitted at least one month before expiry. Permit issuance and initial registration each cost EUR 70. Applications are being accepted, but the programme remains capped at 500 permits; that is not a count of spaces available to your household. Arrange health cover for each family member, because temporary Nomad status alone does not establish GESY eligibility.

Regulation 6(2): the qualifying residential-property route

For an eligible third-country family, the residential route requires a first-sale house or apartment from a developer with a total value of at least EUR 300,000 plus VAT. The application needs the title or a sale contract officially lodged with the Department of Lands and Surveys, together with official receipts showing payment of at least EUR 300,000 excluding VAT. Investment funds must be evidenced as coming from abroad, not domestic borrowing. The remaining purchase amount is paid to the seller's account at a Cyprus financial institution. Up to two qualifying residential units can meet the combined threshold, including for a couple.

Requirements and procedures in detail

The household also needs secure annual income of at least EUR 50,000, increased by EUR 15,000 for a spouse and EUR 10,000 for each dependent minor child. For this residential investment category, income comes from abroad. The later official clarification accepts the tax return from the declared tax-residence country or official certificates from an independent Certified Accountant; a spouse's income may also count. This matters for a UAE-based applicant whose income records differ from a UK tax-return file.

The core family coverage is a spouse and children under 18. Adult children and parents require their own assessment rather than automatic inclusion. The applicant and spouse provide clean criminal records from the country of origin and the country of residence where different. The family needs inpatient and outpatient medical insurance and suitable accommodation; if the investment home's bedrooms do not meet the dependants' needs, another suitable home must be evidenced.

The permit does not authorise ordinary employment. In this residential-investment case, shareholding in a Cyprus company and an unpaid director role can be permitted under the stated conditions. Do not equate that with unrestricted permission to run any paid activity from the island.

The application fee is EUR 500, with EUR 70 for each included person who does not already have ARC registration. The published assessment estimate is approximately two months from a complete application. The residence right has unlimited validity while its conditions continue; an adult card needs replacement after ten years and a minor's card runs to age 18. Taking up residence, absence, continued investment and ongoing evidence are substantive parts of the arrangement, not paperwork to consider after buying.

What each use of Cyprus requires

Open the use that fits your plans. Each option brings together the legal requirements, your documents and the work to commission.

Your intended use: A contingency base with a return option
Rights already available
Identify any protected British residence, EU/EEA/Swiss rights or qualifying family entitlement. Otherwise establish each person's lawful entry and length of stay. A UAE residence card is not Cyprus permission.
What must be put in place
A suitable longer-stay registration or granted permit, health cover, available money and accommodation ready to use. Preserve the separate UK or UAE return right. An application or property contract is not a completed arrival arrangement.
Work EXOBASIS can carry through
Organise the personal files, usable housing and payment route, then connect the airport journey to handover and care. Keep another genuinely reachable option and the intended return under separate consideration.
Your intended use: A permanent family home
Rights already available
Eligible EU/EEA/Swiss citizens can use employment, self-employment or self-supporting residence, with qualifying relatives using family rights. British beneficiaries can use retained Withdrawal Agreement rights. These routes do not require an investor purchase; a household outside them needs a suitable third-country route with its own dependant and work conditions.
What must be put in place
Address evidence, school admission, language support, health cover and receiving care. Meet the applicable income, investment and insurance requirements rather than assuming a home purchase settles residence.
Work EXOBASIS can carry through
Compare Larnaca and Nicosia around actual school and clinical needs, arrange the residence and family documents, organise a rental or purchase with independent checks and prepare the household for arrival.
Your intended use: Living between Cyprus and another country
Rights already available
EU/EEA/Swiss citizens and qualifying relatives can use the personal or family rights matching their stay and work; protected British residents can use their retained rights. Without those entitlements, establish a suitable third-country route.
What must be put in place
For eligible overseas remote work, apply for Digital Nomad residence; Visitor status and accompanying Nomad status do not confer general work permission. Align permitted activity, renewals, presence and cover. For 6(2), account for first residence, permanent residence abroad and the two-year absence limit. Assess personal tax residence independently.
Work EXOBASIS can carry through
Schedule the required documents and personal appointments, secure housing for the intended pattern and arrange care while away. Test payment and access arrangements before the next stay.

Regions and housing

Larnaca: connect the school, district hospital and arrival

Larnaca is a useful starting point where your family wants an English-language school option alongside district hospital services and an airport arrival. American Academy Larnaca publishes an admissions process for its senior school, including English and mathematics examinations for international Year 1 applicants. Larnaca General Hospital lists emergency care, intensive care, dialysis and physiotherapy among its services. Choose the neighbourhood around the actual school place and treatment needed, not just proximity to the coast. Include the possibility of a delayed onward journey in the housing decision: can you stay longer and still reach the care you need? Under the agreed arrival assignment, EXOBASIS coordinates an extension or replacement accommodation with the providers. If essential care cannot be maintained locally, another reachable location becomes part of the decision.

Nicosia: compare the specialist-care requirement

Nicosia General Hospital lists services including neurology, oncology, transplantation and diagnostic imaging. The English School provides a separate English-language education option with selection and limited entry during the programme. For a household needing specialised care, this can make Nicosia a more useful comparison than another coastal district. Test the home-to-school, home-to-clinic and airport journeys without assuming that any address in the city will work equally well.

Rent first when the family location is still being tested

A furnished exploratory stay gives you time for school visits, medical appointments and meaningful viewings. Before a longer lease, establish the owner's or representative's authority and agree the property, residential use, term, termination, renewal, deposit and repayment. Record furnishings, repairs, common-building charges and the additional cost of electricity, water and air conditioning. The address evidence needs to support the relevant residence and school-district processes.

From 1 July 2026, Cyprus rent must be paid by bank transfer, debit or credit card, or another recognised electronic payment method. Agree the recipient, reference and receipt trail before moving in. At handover, record the condition, inventory, meter readings, keys and utility transfers. A cash reserve alone cannot fulfil this rental-payment requirement.

Buying: establish the buyer's position before choosing the transaction

Chapter 109 excludes EU and EEA nationals from its definition of an alien. A Swiss national's favourable residence treatment is not the same statutory property exemption. For a buyer outside the relevant exceptions, acquisition permission depends on the person, property and purpose. The Ministry's process describes up to two units for an individual or married couple in total, with specified combinations; it is not unrestricted permission to buy any property.

Property rules and preparation in detail

For land on which to build an owner-occupied home, the present administrative guidance refers to up to 4,000 m². The law has a separate additional-condition threshold above two skales, expressed by DLS as 2,676 m²; the regulation provides for owner housing up to three skales, or 4,014 m². Those figures serve different legal and procedural roles. Obtain the competent authority's position before committing to a parcel between 4,001 and 4,014 m².

  1. Commission independent title and technical checks. Establish the registered owner, authority to sell, title, encumbrances, prohibitions, planning permissions and the building's actual condition. Where required, COMM145 acquisition permission is handled by the relevant District Administration.
  2. Connect the sale contract to a current search. For contracts concluded from 12 December 2023, the accompanying Search Certificate must fall within the five-working-day window around signing. Have the position examined before commitment and payment. Where transfer is deferred, lodge the written contract with the District Lands Office within six months.
  3. Resolve an existing mortgage through the actual release process. In an eligible Form A arrangement, lender, seller and buyer agree the release amount and seller's account. Following payment, the lender issues Form B and releases the mortgage. Form C is deposit without Form A, not equivalent buyer protection. Other prior encumbrances can prevent use of the special protection route.
  4. Complete payment, clearances and registered transfer. Tie payments to the reviewed contract and release mechanism. The DLS transfer file includes the relevant N313 tax clearance, local authority, sewerage and water clearances, identity or representation documents and fees.
  5. Take possession separately. Record keys, condition, defects, meters and utility accounts. Receiving the keys and becoming the registered owner are different events.

Budget the transaction, not just the asking price

The standard rate for a VAT-liable purchase or construction is 19%. The 5% housing relief is for a main and permanent residence, not an automatic benefit of a EUR 300,000 residence investment or a holiday base. The current ordinary rule covers the first 130 m² up to EUR 350,000 of qualifying value, provided total value and area do not exceed EUR 475,000 and 190 m². The Tax Department notice of 4 May 2026 separates two older-planning cases. Where planning permission was applied for or obtained by 31 October 2023 and the building permit was issued after 1 January 2025 or remains unissued by 31 December 2026, the authority can examine applications delayed by the planning authorities up to 31 December 2026. This is the deadline for official examination, not a general filing extension. For planning applications made by 31 October 2023 with a building permit already issued by 31 December 2024, declarations for the former relief on the first 200 m² had to be submitted by 15 June 2026. Submission is exclusively through Tax For All (TFA). Other special cases still require their own assessment; the authority checks actual use within the ten-year period.

There is no DLS transfer fee where the same transaction bears VAT and the required evidence is supplied. Otherwise, the ordinary transfer-fee scale is 3% on the first EUR 85,000, 5% on the next portion up to EUR 170,000 and 8% above, generally reduced by 50%, subject to the transaction's exceptions. Contract deposit costs EUR 50. Stamp duty was abolished from 1 January 2026, but DLS still requires stamping where at least one party signed before that date.

Schooling, healthcare and care

Obtain a school decision, not just a nearby address

Public primary-school registration is open to children living in Cyprus regardless of nationality or their parents' residence legality. Normal entry is at age six before 1 September. Registration usually takes place in January according to the home school district, with confirmation normally in April. Late registration and transfers go through the District Education Office and available places. Prepare the child's official identity or birth records, vaccination information and residential evidence; for a rental, the lease and electricity bill can be used as the relevant address evidence.

School, health and family in detail

A public-school place does not promise English-medium teaching. American Academy Larnaca requires the relevant entrance or placement process; entry to other years depends on vacancies and records. Learning or health needs must be supportable by the school. The English School in Nicosia has its own admission examinations and limited mid-programme entry. Obtain the actual admission decision and fee information before committing to the home around it.

Prepare to move abroad with children and family explains how school, parental authority, travel and each person's rights fit together. We can carry through the agreed school enquiries, records and appointments as part of your family arrival.

GESY eligibility, enrolment and the care you need

GESY requires ordinary residence in the Republic's controlled areas and an eligible category. For EU citizens, actual employment or the relevant permanent-residence position can matter; family and S1 arrangements have their own requirements. For third-country nationals, permanent residence or a statutory social-security equal-treatment right is relevant. A holiday property, MEU1 certificate or temporary Visitor/Nomad card alone is insufficient. Paying a GHS contribution does not itself enrol you for benefits.

School, health and family in detail

Establish eligibility, complete registration and arrange a personal doctor, referral and the relevant appointment. Use an S1 route only where you actually hold the appropriate document. For a family leaving an employer-sponsored UAE policy or changing UK cover, confirm the end of the existing arrangement and the start of the accepted Cyprus cover. Health cover and care abroad helps connect insurance, private treatment and the receiving provider.

GESY is not universally free at the point of use. Published co-payments include EUR 1 per medicine, EUR 1 per lab test or group of tests up to EUR 10 per laboratory category, and EUR 10 for radiology or emergency-department care. Ordinary annual co-payment caps are EUR 150, or EUR 75 for specified protected groups. Separate charges, such as direct outpatient specialist access without referral, and uncovered private treatment are not all absorbed into that cap.

For planned care in Larnaca, confirm the appointment and referral where required. Nicosia hospital admission involves medical referral and registration; bring the clinical records and medication list. Department, appointment, actual acceptance and cost coverage are the useful answers, rather than a general claim that a hospital is close.

Arrange the whole care handover

If a parent needs daily support, identify assistance, medicines, equipment, mobility and overnight needs before selecting the property. PASYKAF provides supportive and palliative home care for people with cancer, following assessment and an updated medical referral. It is a concrete diagnosis-specific service to explore, not evidence of general round-the-clock elderly care.

School, health and family in detail

Confirm the receiving arrangement, start date, language, daily coverage and funding before the existing care ends. Care needs, medication and medical dependencies when moving explains the uninterrupted handover. EXOBASIS organises the agreed provider enquiries, clinical records, appointments, accommodation requirements and practical transfer of responsibility. Ask the clinical team to establish fitness for onward transport and agree with the receiving service how medicines, treatment and daily assistance will continue during a delay. EXOBASIS coordinates the agreed accommodation and appointments around that handover; if local support cannot meet the need, the clinical and care teams must help establish a reachable alternative.

Income, money and work

Make the first Cyprus payments before relying on the new base

Rent, school, medical care and the property purchase draw on different parts of your money. Identify what is available now, which receipts are expected, and what remains tied to a business, investment or employment settlement. Cyprus's electronic-rent requirement makes a functioning payment route part of the housing preparation.

Work, income and payments in detail

Before arrival, agree the payee, currency, reference, limits and receipts and test an authorised payment. The rental rule does not prescribe a particular Cyprus bank product. Your residence application may separately require records from a Cyprus financial institution. Bank acceptance, activation and any representative's authority need confirmation for the actual account; an online application is not proof that the household can use it.

For a UK departure, ask the existing provider how the true overseas address and tax-residence change affect the product before assuming the account can remain as it is. For a UAE departure, connect visa cancellation and final-salary or end-of-service arrangements with the bank's actual treatment and any borrowing. Preserve the evidence of income and lawful funds required for the Cyprus application. Do not count a payment still awaiting release as the money for your first rent.

Personal tax residence is a different question from permission to stay

The 183-day route applies where you spend more than 183 days in Cyprus in the tax year. The alternative 60-day route requires at least 60 days in Cyprus, no more than 183 days in any other country, a Cyprus business, employment or office with a Cyprus tax-resident person, and a permanently available owned or rented home. Ending the relevant business, employment or office during the year defeats that condition. The 2026 wording removed the former blanket condition of not being tax-resident elsewhere. Another country's tax claim or a treaty-residence conflict still requires its own resolution.

Work, income and payments in detail

Non-Dom relates to Special Defence Contribution, not a general exemption from tax. Domicile of origin or choice and the statutory 17-out-of-20-years attribution are separate matters. SDC on rent was removed from 2026; income tax and GHS can still be relevant. GHS contributions are also distinct from access to GESY benefits. HIO publishes 2.65% for employees and specified income recipients and 4% for self-employed people, with a personal annual contribution-base ceiling of EUR 180,000. Apply the correct category and any relevant coordination arrangements.

The ordinary corporation-tax rate became 15% from 1 January 2026. It is not an all-in rate for an owner and their distributions. Actual company management, the work you perform and UK or other origin-country obligations must be addressed on their own facts. Establishing a Cyprus company does not by itself end those obligations or determine your personal tax residence.

Documents and preparation time

  1. Identify the route for every person. Bring passports, present immigration status and any protected Cyprus or EU-family rights together with the intended stay and work. A family moving from the UAE may have several different nationality and document-origin cases.
  2. Prepare relationship and relocation evidence. Match births, marriage, name changes, custody and required consent to the people travelling. For a 6(2) application involving minors without both parents, the Department accepts the relevant consent to permanent Cyprus residence only when signed before a Cypriot consular officer. Keep the origin-country relocation permission distinct from this Cyprus document.
  3. Document resources, housing and cover. Use records appropriate to the selected category. Visitor residence needs its prescribed local financial evidence; a residential investor application needs the foreign source, payment trail and title or deposited sale contract. The later 6(2) income clarification is relevant where an independent accountant's official certification is used.
  4. Arrange formality and attendance. Obtain the required translations, certification, medical and criminal-record evidence. Submit Visitor applications before visa expiry, Digital Nomad applications within three months of arrival and MEU1/MEU2 within four. Schedule biometrics and any required family attendance rather than assuming that a representative can complete every personal step.
  5. Hand over a usable position. Keep original records, submission receipts, decisions, expiry dates and school or clinical documents organised. The family needs to know what has been granted, what is pending and who is authorised to use the records.

The published assessment estimates for complete applications are normally under four months for Visitors, five to seven weeks for Digital Nomads and approximately two months for the residential-investor route. They are not move-in dates. Coordinate school terms, lawful stay and housing commitments around the stage actually reached.

Ongoing obligations

Agree who maintains the preparation while you are busy elsewhere. A new passport, separation, changed employment or a parent's care needs can affect residence, banking and the home at the same time. Dates need an owner and an action, not just a reminder.

Obligations and care in detail

For Regulation 6(2), evidence that the investment is maintained remains annual. Insurance evidence is required where the family no longer continues as GESY beneficiaries. Under the later clarification, the applicant and adult family members submit clean criminal records from origin and residence countries every three years; annual income evidence was abolished. Disposing of the investment without immediate qualifying replacement can lead to cancellation. First residence, absence and replacement of the card remain separate requirements.

A Visitor renewal requires the applicable resources, insurance and other supporting records. A Nomad renewal is filed at least one month before expiry. MEU2 family-card continuity has its own absence rules, including temporary absences up to six months a year and specified exceptions. Keep the conditions of the actual status in the family file.

For the property, agree inspections, keys, utilities, repair authority and a readiness check before arrival. For payments, prepare the institution's accepted recovery route if the usual phone fails and confirm what an authorised substitute can actually do. Company representation and filing responsibilities belong to the real business arrangements, not an assumption that a private authority letter will be accepted everywhere. Name the person at EXOBASIS responsible for the agreed travel and care recheck, before your next journey or when a change in connections or care needs is reported. They check the arrival and onward route and accessible treatment with the relevant providers, then give you the current position, local bridging arrangements and any decision needed on a different reachable option.

Practical preparation

You can put a defined Cyprus assignment in our hands: compare the locations, organise the residence file, prepare banking, find a rental, coordinate a property purchase or arrange the first family arrival. Where several parts depend on each other, EXOBASIS brings the work and the required specialists into one sequence.

Your handover follows the assignment: a reasoned location choice, completed document work with its actual application position, a home taken through the agreed checks and handover, or a maintained base with named responsibilities and the current travel and care position established by the agreed recheck, including bridging arrangements and any decision on an alternative location. Our work, external professional fees, travel, property costs and the funds you need to commit are identified separately. A preliminary consultation is not a compulsory purchase when the execution task is already clear.

Two useful comparisons before committing

If you know what you want prepared, ask for that work directly. If the first task is still unclear, the general contact route also offers a free 20-minute orientation.

Does a Cyprus company amount to a prepared family base?

No. The family still needs the right residence and work position for each person, a usable home, school admission, accepted health cover and actual care arrangements. Company management and tax work can be part of the preparation, but they do not provide a family arrival or a route through disrupted travel.
